Body Brushing Results

© theprettypolkadot 2013
Just over a month ago I decided to give dry body brushing a go! But I mean, a real go.  Like, religiously, everyday, dry brushing my dead skin cells away.  Sounds lovely.  I'm here today to give you my thoughts and the results to my 1 month trial.

Hello Hyperpigmentation!

© theprettypolkadot 2013

Why did I do it?  We all ask ourselves at some point in our lives but especially when hyperpigmentation rears its ugly head. Why did I spend so much time cooking myself in the sun?  Why did I pick that zit that was so huge I named it Harry?  Ok, these are just a couple of reasons we can suffer with hyperpigmentation but there are reasons that aren't necessarily our fault, like just aging in general and even some medications or hormonal changes can be the culprits.  So cut yourself some slack!

Brush That Dry Body With Dry Body Brushing!

You know the top layer of our skin? Well it's dead.  A bit harsh but it's the truth.  Get rid of it.  I got to thinking the other day about the cream that I coat my body in at least once every single day, sometimes twice if I'm feeling rather pampery or if I'm off out on the town in my dancing shoes.  Just like with our faces, we need to remove the dead skin cells and product build up from our bodies too.  Do you want luminous, even toned, gorgeous soft skin, where the products you do use to nourish it, can actually penetrate making you feel like a new woman or man?  Yes. So do I.

Moisture Magnet? Yes Please!

Its name - Hyaluronic Acid.

Sounds frightening I know... but we are hearing more and more about this product in the media today and how beneficial it is for our skin.  Hyaluronic Acid, HA, is something already present in our bodies; around joints and in the fluids in our eyes.  You may have heard of it being used as a lip filler or that some people ingest it by mouth or have it injected by a healthcare practitioner to help with various joint disorders... but I heard about it and all its hype about six months ago from the multitude of beauty guru's mentioning it in skincare products.

Coconut Oil Rocks!

Photo from doctoroz.com
Let's get right down to business.  There are hundreds of blogs on the subject and I was blown away by the number of benefits the heavenly smelling oil has.  There are hundreds of uses for coconut oil.  From cooking and baking with it, to all sorts of skin care uses such as a cream to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy, lightening age spots, speeding up the healing of sunburn and it can even be used as a personal lubricant.  Yes, I said it.  Luuuube.  Also, for all you mothers out there, it helps with diaper/nappy rash too.

Skincare Shenanigans

Not too long ago I found myself utterly flabbergasted by an ingredients list on a moisturizer I was applying on my face religiously.
